Chronic Pain – Joint Problems and Your Diet

Are you trying to cope with chronic pain? Joint issues can easily come from a poor diet, as well as one that encourages you to put on excess weight. In many cases, if you switch to healthier foods, you will also notice that joint pain subsides. At the very least, you should try to find out if you have a low tolerance for sugar and carbohydrates. Even though you may not think you are diabetic, excess sugar in your body can cause nerve damage. Therefore, if you reduce carbohydrate intake, you may also reduce chronic pain. Chances are, you will be amazed to find out how much nerve damage can result when blood sugar levels are too high.
Many people that are obese also suffer from chronic pain. Joint problems are so common in obese people, that some doctors don’t even bother to spend additional time counseling the patient. Instead, they will tell you to lose weight, and then give you a prescription for pain killers.
Even though this is not the best answer, the doctor will only say that the odds of your complying with a weight loss program were very low.
